EXPERIMENT 03 / SOLAR SYSTEM TO SCALE

Most of space is space.

What to try: choose a planet, then zoom in until its true size appears. Drag to travel.

What “true scale” means

Filled circles use physical planetary radii. Distances and sizes share the same kilometers-per-pixel conversion. At a whole-system view, most planets are smaller than a pixel. Their yellow position markers are labels, not enlarged planet discs. Zoom in to reveal the actual discs.

This is a one-dimensional distance model using representative orbital distances from the Sun’s center. Planets are lined up for comparison, not shown at their current orbital positions. Radii use NASA’s equatorial diameters; Saturn’s rings are omitted. Travel times are distance divided by fixed speed, not achievable journeys, launch plans or routes through space. There is no acceleration or orbital transfer model.
